Sullivan International Group, Inc (Sullivan) and Weston Solutions, Inc. have entered into a Small Business Administration (SBA) Mentor Protégé Agreement in response to their federal customers’ efforts to increase the level of participation by small businesses in government contracting.
SULLIVAN and WESTON are equally dedicated to the success of the Agreement as it provides a unique vehicle to offer federal customers the combined resources, financing, and business systems of both companies while having the ability to operate as a single small 8(a) business entity. Under the SBA’s Mentor Protégé Program, a mentor and protégé may form a joint venture that is recognized as an 8(a) entity to pursue certain prime contracting opportunities. Most federal agencies struggle to meet the Statutory Small Business Contracting Goals established by the SBA; this relationship offers the agencies another vehicle to assist in their goal attainment and commitments to our nation’s small business community.
According to Steve Sullivan, CEO of Sullivan International, “The strength of this relationship provides our mutual clients the depth of resources needed to meet the continued demands within the small business arena and also provide Sullivan a 21st century mentor that is in tune with industry trends that will help to strengthen Sullivan for future growth and expansion – a win-win for all involved!”
Patrick G. McCann, WESTON President and CEO added, “WESTON and Sullivan share a common vision for quality, integrity, and most of all that of providing sustainable solutions to our clients. We look forward to the success of the venture across the United States and with our clients covering a broad range of federal agencies.”
The intent of the SBA’s Mentor Protégé Program is to enhance and strengthen the capabilities of the small business protégé through mentoring activities, improving its opportunities to successfully compete for various government contracts, and ultimately transition into larger prime contracting opportunities. This Mentor Protégé Agreement is a valuable tool in today’s economic times as it stimulates economic development through increased small business utilization.
