Sullivan International Group, Inc. and their former mentor Tetra Tech EM Inc. recently celebrated their successful completion of a five year, A-E Services contract for the US Navy and Marine Corps installations in California and Nevada. The joint venture was the first such endeavor for Sullivan and was very successful in helping grow technically in the Southwest region. This celebration was highlighted at the Energy Environment Sustainability Symposium in Denver in May. Sullivan won this contract under an SBA 8(a) Joint Venture which led to the successful execution of over $48 million in Task Orders with Tetra Tech EM Inc.
“There are few firms that can boast of the success we have jointly achieved in completing a contract of this magnitude” commented Roger Argus, Regional Manager, Tetra Tech EM Inc. He continued, “Sullivan rose to the challenge of this major contract through growth both in size, as well as technical capability!” Mr. Argus presented a congratulatory letter to Steve Sullivan, Sullivan CEO and the Sullivan team members that were at the conference, including Deanna Rhoades, Navy Program Manager and Senior PM for the SulTech contract who was presenting a technical paper at the conference in Denver.
Sullivan continues to do similar projects and follow on work and has won numerous A-E Services contracts around the country partially due to the experience gained from this initial contract. Steve Sullivan commented, “This was a crucial contract for Sullivan and while the joint venture was complicated to administrate in the beginning, it was an incredible learning experience for our technical and corporate staff to have this contract as our first joint venture win. It has significantly assisted us in administering our other current joint ventures.” Sullivan currently has six active joint venture contracts which produce millions of dollars of revenue and work throughout the United States. Sullivan is now looked at as a leader among their peers with regard to their knowledge of joint ventures and Mr. Sullivan routinely speaks at conferences and on panels with regard to teaming arrangements, SBA guidelines, mentor/protégé agreements and joint ventures.
